Train Wood Riverbank Path by Stu McPherson 2016

Train Wood Riverbank Path by Stu McPherson 2016

Train Wood is designated a County Wildlife Site, with around five hectares of wet and dry woodland, riverbank, and glades, uniquely sited close to the city centre between the Marriott’s Way and the river Wensum. A mosaic of wet woodland and drier scrub, the site has 37 special plant species named in its citation, including alder, ash, crack, grey and white willow, pond sedge, reed sweet-grass, meadowsweet, water mint and the nationally-scarce hoary mullein. The grassland glades are rich in butterflies, there are otters in the river, and it’s one of the best places in Norwich to spot a kingfisher.
